Week 5 (6/23/25) Gator Bulletin and a Little Championship Info

    Gator Families,

We have our last week of 2 swim meet nights ahead, both of which are away! Attached you will find this week's Gator Bulletin (6/23), it will also be posted on our Facebook pages.

Specific information for our away meets at Cardinal Hill (Tuesday) and Forest Hills (Thursday) will be sent the day of the meet with heat sheets and "Athlete Entries". Additionally, after we receive the results of each meet (typically the next day), results will be posted to the event on the website where you declare your swimmer(s) for the meet.

Please check your volunteer shifts in preparation for the meets this week. If you have any questions about the roles, please feel free to contact me. If you no longer can fulfill your shift:

    - Prior to the day of the meet, you are still able to drop your shift on SwimTopia for others to fill.

    - On the meet day, please reach out to us so we can make a backup plan.

For those still looking to pick up their 5 volunteer shifts. We have:

    - 2 volunteer shifts open (1- 2nd half timers and 1-2nd half scorer) for the Cardinal Hill away meet on Tuesday.

    Parents on Deck

Families, we have had a couple instances of parents coaching their kids during practices and at meets, both during warm-ups and during the meet. We would like to remind everyone that in our team handbook it explicitly states that:

    Gators Parents will:

    1. Refrain from coaching the team or any swimmer at a practice or meets (from the stands or any other area) or interfering with coaches on the pool deck.

While we welcome families to be actively involved with their swimmer, it is important to remember that we have very knowledgeable staff that work with all of our swimmers. Additionally, it is very beneficial that you are their #1 fan and let them hear information from other voices. (Dr. Alan Goldberg, sports psychologist)

    Heat Advisory Reminders

We will be under a Heat Advisory 6/23 through 6/25. Since all of our activities are outside it is atrongly advised to make sure all swimmers are intaking fluids before and after practice. It is strongly encouraged to have an electrolyte or sports drink like Gatorade after practice/meets. Your swimmers may not know it but they are sweating in the pool while swimming. Please make sure swimmers have 32 ounces of water available during practice. Coaches and facility staff will monitor conditions and be mindful of swimmer safety during these three days.

    Champs Info:

Champs Shirts: Today is the last day to order your Champs shirts! The orders for Championship Meet Shirts have been opened. Orders & payment will be collected directly through the website. Orders will close June 22nd. We will have a handful for purchase at champs, but they go quickly, so no guarantees on color/size availability. Below is the link for champs shirts this year.

    - Registration deadline to declare your swimmer is TBD.

    - There is NO ASSISTED SWIMMING (Events 81/82) AT CHAMPS. If your swimmer is assisted, they must swim 1 league meet unassisted to be able to swim at Champs. Again, no catchers will be allowed in the pool during the Championship Meet.

    - The league is selling spirit ads in the heat sheet/program [no digital heat sheets will be sent out] for the meet. If you would like to place a spirit ad please follow the link below. Each ad is $5. Payments will need to be sent to our PayPal account (memo: Spirit Ad) so we can get one check to the league for all orders placed. The deadline to place a spirit ad is Saturday, July 5 @ 8:00 P.M. with payments made by July 7 at NOON (or ad orders will be canceled). http://shorturl.at/bbdzJ

    - PayPal Account: http://paypal.me/GermantownGators *Make sure that you select "sending to a friend" versus a business to avoid transaction fees for the team.

    - Champs Jobs: We have wonderful news! We received volunteer assignments from the league and we DO NOT have to do clerk of course. Instead, we will be the heat winner prizes. This means we will work with Forest Hill to award heat winner prizes at the end of lanes. Additionally, we have also been assigned announcer, so we will need 1 person per shift announcing over the microphone.  We will take our team script for you. If you had already signed up for clerk of course, we will move you to one of these jobs once we know what events this is for as clerk of course will be deleted. ***If you would like to be the announcer, please let me know and we will make sure we get you put on that job.  We will also need to have 2 timers per shift (20 events) for lanes 1 & 5. Officials, be on the lookout for an email from either us or the league with championship information/assignments once we have more information.

Assisted Swimmers: Reminder: assisted swimmers will have shortened practice times to make sure that their developmental needs are being kept in mind. Assisted swimmers will practice from 9:30a-10:15a.

    REMINDERS:

    • Declare for the Cardinal Hill meet by NOON on Monday (6/23) and Forest Hills by NOON on Wednesday (6/25). Entire season of meets are open for declarations.
    • Keep your eyes peeled for Champs declaration info.
    • If anyone sees Coach Renee’s personalized ink pen, please let us know.

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions. We are excited for a terrific week ahead!
